But guess what? Obsidian had a year and a half to make New Vegas. People like John Sawyer are legendary for their talent in RPG games, and it’s a good reason that fans love New Vegas over Fallout 3 and obviously over the dumpster fire that was Fallout 4. Obsidian Entertainment is the major team behind Fallout: New Vegas, and during the creation of the game had a large collection of members from the teams who made Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. They may not be, but it feels stupidly true.īut it also doesn’t help when I bring up this next point. I’m not going to criticise Havok, but it just seems like Zenimax is using Havok like they used Gamebryo, and it is the reason people typically say the games are on the same engine.

The only advantage the Gamebryo engine has is being overwhelmingly mod friendly, like Java and Unity, but that does not make it a great engine. However, Gamebryo has no legs to stand on. It depends on things like company and circumstance, and while Sonic ‘06 is beyond any definition of terrible, there are reasons for it. And of course it has been used in terrible games, like Sonic 2006. The Havok game engine has been used for various good games, such as Dark Souls and Bioshock. The two engines used by Zenimax the most are the Gamebryo engine and the Havok engine. An issue so massive, so disgusting, so f***ing terrible, filled to the brim with piss, sh**, and all other manner of bodily fluids and excrement, that I simply had to rant on it after watching a few recent videos.Īnd that problem, as you likely already know or have known for years, is the game engine(s) that these games are built upon, and how they are utilised.
